
Welcome to the South Dakota Extension Master Gardener website!
Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who assist the SD Cooperative Extension Service in providing yard and garden educational activities across the state.
Extension Master Gardener Training Information
Over 900 South Dakotans have received the training, and have returned over 51,000 reported hours service to the state. If you want to learn more about plants and gardening and would enjoy sharing that knowledge, the Extension Master Gardener may be your ticket!
2008 locations: Rapid City (already finished), Sioux Falls (Fridays, May 16-July 17), Aberdeen (Mondays, Apr. 21-June 16), Huron (Tuesdays, Apr.22-June 15); 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tentative 2009 locations: Hot Springs, Brookings, and ???

Don't miss the Master Gardener "Update" Fall Convention!
The 2008 "Update," our annual advanced training conference, will be held Sept. 12-13 in Hot Springs. Featured speakers include Panayoti Kelaides, curator of plant collections for the Denver Botanical Gardens. In addition there will be field trips and breakout sessions. Cindy Reed, president of the Great Plains Native Plant Society will present a program on penstemons. Another session will discuss how global warming affects native plants.
